Santa Cruz de Tenerife Invests €564,000 to Upgrade Southwest District Roads

Santa Cruz de Tenerife is stepping up its urban renewal efforts after the local Governing Board approved a 564,028-euro investment to improve sixteen roads in the city’s Southwest district. The City Council is using a municipal framework agreement to fast-track these repairs, allowing maintenance work to begin without the need for individual tenders for every project.

The project, which is being carried out by the joint venture Firmes Santa Cruz, is scheduled to run until November 30. Work will focus on resurfacing and pavement repairs in Tíncer, Barranco Grande, and the area surrounding Santa María del Mar. The streets set for improvement include El Timple, Hornero, Malvasía, San Román, María Luisa, San Lorenzo, Rajita, Conde, Ruiseñor, Transversal Los Peregrinos, Autillo, Chaxiraxi, Cirche, Ahoren, Bilma, and a section of Avenida Cruz de Tíncer.

Mayor José Manuel Bermúdez noted that this contracting model allows the city to respond more efficiently to road wear. Carlos Tarife, the Councilor for Public Services, added that the investment is essential to counter the damage caused by daily traffic. Javier Rivero, the district councilor, emphasized that these upgrades will directly improve safety and comfort for local residents.

This project is part of a wider plan to modernize mobility across the capital. The City Council has also approved an additional 2.5 million euros to repave 17 more streets, including work in the Centro-Ifara district. Further improvements are already planned for the Salud-La Salle, Ofra-Costa Sur, and Anaga districts, as the city continues its efforts to boost accessibility and road safety.
