Santa Cruz de Tenerife is hosting a sustainable, solar-powered event in San Andrés this Saturday to promote the culture, local economy, and natural heritage of the Anaga massif.

Santa Cruz de Tenerife is boosting its efforts to revitalize local districts this Saturday, November 7, with a special event celebrating the culture and economy of the Anaga massif. Organized by the City Council as part of a wider plan to support local tourism and business, the event aims to bring more visitors to San Andrés to showcase the area’s unique natural and cultural heritage.

The event runs from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. around Avenida Pedro Schwartz and Plaza Ramón Guillermo Cruz Cabrera. In a move toward sustainability, the organizers will power the entire event using solar energy—a first for the council as it works to reduce the carbon footprint of its public activities.

Visitors can explore a variety of stalls from 19 local groups, including farmers, artisans, and neighborhood associations. Highlights include local products like honey and cheese, alongside handmade crafts such as pottery, jewelry, and textiles.

The program is split into two main areas. The "Infobox" section focuses on nature and education, offering workshops on biodiversity, traditional fishing, and guided tastings of local Anaga flavors. Meanwhile, the Avenida Pedro Schwartz space will host cultural performances, including folk music, storytelling about local wildlife, and demonstrations of traditional sports like juego del palo (stick fighting) and salto del pastor (shepherd’s leap). The day will wrap up with a community mural project that everyone is invited to join.

The Development Society and the Anaga District encourage attendees to use public transport, such as the TITSA bus lines, or to use the designated parking area at Las Teresitas. This event is part of the "Enjoy the Districts" project, which aims to support local businesses and strengthen community identity. Further details are available on the municipality’s official commerce website.
