Santa Cruz de Tenerife is hosting a diverse array of cultural, sporting, and community events this weekend, ranging from folk festivals and international music performances to youth programs and active lifestyle initiatives.
Santa Cruz de Tenerife is gearing up for a busy weekend, highlighting the city’s role as a vibrant hub for culture and entertainment. According to the City Council, the weekend schedule features a wide range of events—from traditional folk celebrations to modern performances—spread across various neighborhoods and public spaces.
Local community groups are at the heart of this weekend's festivities. In the Southwest, Llano del Moro will host the 18th La Era y El Trigo Folk Festival, featuring vintage cars and traditional music. Meanwhile, the Chamberí neighborhood celebrates the 2nd Manuel Alonso Trujillo “Kima” Folk Festival with solo performances and a traditional "baile de taifas." The María Jiménez neighborhood is also kicking off its local festival with children’s activities and a street dance, leading up to the election of its child representatives on Sunday. For comedy fans, the Anaga district is launching “El Carcajazo” in Valleseco, a new event showcasing local comedians.
The city is also hosting several major cultural events. The International Film Music Festival (Fimucité) begins its 20th edition with a free concert in Plaza de Candelaria, while the Trade Fair Center hosts Tenerife International Fashion Week. Performing arts fans can enjoy a Spanish dance production by Antonio Najarro at the Auditorio de Tenerife, or catch a play and a concert by La Bien Querida at the CajaCanarias Cultural Space. Additionally, visitors can explore the city’s maritime history through an immersive experience on the Correíllo La Palma.
Promoting active lifestyles and well-being is also a priority this weekend. The 44th Bicycle Festival, organized by the Sports department, includes educational workshops and a bike ride from La Granja Park to the Port-City area. For seniors, the “Tardeo +60” event at Residencial Anaga square offers an afternoon of music and comedy.
Rounding out the weekend, the city’s libraries and art centers are offering plenty to do. Libraries are hosting illustration workshops, storytelling sessions, and cultural games, while museums continue to feature diverse exhibitions, including works by Tanja Tamvelius, Cándido Camacho, and Jaume Plensa. Finally, the "Distrito Joven" program is engaging younger residents with activities ranging from video game training and journalism workshops to hiking trips in the Anaga Rural Park, underscoring the city's commitment to providing opportunities for all ages.
