Santa Cruz de Tenerife Hosts Fourth Edition of 'La Memoria Compartida' Cultural Event
Espacio La Granja in Santa Cruz de Tenerife hosts the fourth edition of "La memoria compartida" this evening, an event celebrating Library Day by transforming the life stories of seniors into contemporary literary works.
Connecting generations is a powerful way to preserve our shared history, and that is the focus of a special cultural event happening this afternoon in Santa Cruz de Tenerife. At 7:00 p.m., Espacio La Granja will host the fourth edition of La memoria compartida (Shared Memory), an initiative designed to bridge the gap between the life experiences of seniors and the creative talents of modern writers.
Held in celebration of Library Day, this project goes beyond a simple reading; it is a collaborative creative process. Three elderly citizens shared their personal stories, which were then transformed into original literary works by writers Kenia Martín Padilla, Laura Cabrera de la Rosa, and the creative firm Kalius. This highlights how oral history serves as a vital foundation for contemporary storytelling.
The event is free to attend, though space is limited. The program will feature the authors reading their new works, alongside the original stories that inspired them. Poet and storyteller Isabel Expósito will also participate, with actress Lidia Franco moderating the session. By fostering social connection through culture, these gatherings not only enrich the local arts scene but also highlight the role of libraries as community hubs where individual lives become part of our collective heritage.
