Santa Cruz de Tenerife Hosts 18th Plenilunio Festival Featuring 500-Drone Light Show
Santa Cruz de Tenerife hosts the 18th edition of Plenilunio this weekend, featuring a sustainable drone show, extensive local markets, and a diverse program of cultural and musical activities.
The 18th edition of Plenilunio returns to Santa Cruz de Tenerife this weekend, cementing its place as one of the city’s most important cultural and commercial events. The festivities kick off this Friday, October 2, with a major technological highlight: a drone show featuring over 500 drones flying over the maritime avenue.
Managed by UMILES, this year’s display includes 200 more drones than the previous edition. The City Council has opted for this technology as part of a commitment to acoustic sustainability. By replacing traditional fireworks with drones, the event reduces noise pollution, making it more inclusive for pets and individuals with sensory sensitivities. The show will be accompanied by a DJ from 8:00 p.m. to 10:15 p.m., with two main performances scheduled for 8:30 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. The best views will be from the area near the Cabildo.
The event continues through Sunday, October 4, with a packed schedule of cultural and commercial activities. García Sanabria Park will serve as the main hub, hosting "Le Good Market," which features 56 stalls offering clothing, home decor, and children’s activities, alongside a variety of food trucks. The program also highlights local products through workshops on Canarian gastronomy—covering everything from gofio and local wines to beekeeping and urban farming.
Across the city, 62 additional stalls in Plaza de la Candelaria and Plaza de España will showcase local crafts and textiles, joined by the ARTEFE Artisans' Market at the Cabildo plaza. In total, there will be 118 points of sale throughout the city. Visitors can also enjoy interactive experiences, such as the "Misterio en el Templo" riddle game at the Masonic Temple and the "¡Mantel va!" street performances.
Music will be a constant presence throughout the weekend, with live performances under the "Acousticland" banner taking place in García Sanabria Park, La Noria, Anaga Avenue, and along La Rosa and San Francisco streets. With this diverse lineup, the City Council aims to boost local business while offering a family-friendly experience that blends traditional craftsmanship with cutting-edge technology.
