Tenerife will forever get rid of water problems: the desalination plant is being expanded
The seawater desalination plant in Santa Cruz de Tenerife is being expanded to definitively solve the city's water supply problem.
The city of Santa Cruz de Tenerife will no longer have water problems! The seawater desalination plant in the Cueva Bermeja area is being expanded.
The plant currently has 14 wells that draw seawater. There will be more of them, and this will allow for the production of 10,000 cubic meters of water per day more. Thanks to this, water shortages should disappear.
The city council has already approved the plant's reconstruction project. After the renovation, it will be able to produce 40,000 cubic meters of water per day. All of this will cost 10.3 million euros, and the work will take 16 months. Plus, it will take another two months for testing.
The mayor of the city, José Manuel Bermúdez, says that this is a very important event for the city. This is another step towards ensuring that everyone always has water. "This project is our response to the fact that more and more water is needed. We want to always have a supply of water, so we invest money, plan and take care of nature to make life better for residents," he noted.
The first deputy mayor, Carlos Tarife, added that the project is being implemented by Empresa Mixta de Aguas (Emmasa), which is part of the Sacyr group. This will help develop important infrastructure without compromising water quality. "The city council will monitor the work to ensure that everything is done to the highest standards. These investments are part of our plan," he said.
He also emphasized: "Thanks to this step, we will solve the water problem and provide the city with water forever."
