Santa Cruz de Tenerife Book Fair Returns for May Festivities

The Santa Cruz de Tenerife Book Fair is returning this year, strategically scheduled to coincide with the city’s May Festivities. Running from April 30 to May 4, the event will take place around García Sanabria Park, alongside the traditional Flower and Plant Fair, to help draw larger crowds to the city center.

Supported by the City Council, the Island Council of Tenerife, and the Canary Islands Government, the fair will feature 31 exhibitors. These include a mix of bookstores, publishers, distributors, and cultural organizations, as well as information booths from the Autonomous Body of Culture (OAC). The official opening ceremony will be held this Thursday at 6:00 p.m. at the Fountain of Fertility.

The fair’s cultural program will be centered at two main locations: the Alfonso García Ramos Cultural Space at the Patricio Estévanez roundabout and the Ángel Guimerá Cultural Space on the Rambla. Starting May 1, the schedule focuses on family-friendly activities and features a blend of nationally recognized authors—such as Sergio del Molino, Sara Torres, Sara Búho, and Rayco Pulido—alongside local writers like Elena Correa, Jorge Dávila Negrín, and María del Mar Rodríguez.

Beyond the physical book stalls, the fair is embracing a digital presence with Voces de la Feria (Voices of the Fair), an audio archive featuring mini-podcasts and readings from guest authors. The agenda also includes discussions and roundtables, notably highlighting the 20th Women's Short Story Contest and the release of a new book featuring the winning entries. Additionally, a dedicated area for children’s workshops near the Patricio Estévanez roundabout aims to foster a love of reading in younger visitors, supporting the city's ongoing efforts to promote literacy.
