The Port Authority of Tenerife has awarded a 1.88 million euro contract to Tomás Gracia to renovate the former jet foil terminal, with structural repairs scheduled to begin in October as part of a broader effort to revitalize the city's waterfront.

The renovation of the former jet foil terminal in Santa Cruz de Tenerife is entering its final stage. The Port Authority of Tenerife has awarded the construction contract to the firm Tomás Gracia, with a budget of 1.88 million euros (excluding tax) and an estimated timeline of eight months.

The project aims to stop the deterioration of this key waterfront building. After a competitive bidding process involving three companies, Tomás Gracia was selected with a score of 90.89 points. While another firm received a higher technical rating, Tomás Gracia’s economic proposal ultimately secured them the contract.

Work is scheduled to begin in October and finish in June 2027. The project focuses on structural repairs and waterproofing, including replacing the old metal roof and polycarbonate sections with modern double-glazing. The restaurant pergolas will also be refurbished. These upgrades are vital to preserving the building, which currently houses the Stevedoring and Unstevedoring Society (Sestife) after its original role as a maritime transport hub ended.

This renovation is part of a wider effort to transform the city’s coastline. It aligns with the municipal plan for Avenida de Anaga, which aims to better connect the city to the sea through new pedestrian walkways, green spaces, and sustainable travel lanes. By modernizing the terminal, the Port Authority hopes to resolve years of uncertainty regarding the building's future.

Beyond protecting the structure from the harsh marine environment, these improvements aim to make the space more functional. The goal is to eventually open this strategically located building to the public after years of limited access.
