Santa Cruz de Tenerife has commenced construction on a €2.7 million multipurpose community project in the Juan XXIII neighborhood, slated for completion by mid-2027 to enhance local social infrastructure and accessibility.

Construction has officially begun on a major new community project in the Juan XXIII neighborhood of Santa Cruz de Tenerife. Located near Avenida de Los Príncipes de España, this development is a key part of the city’s plan to improve social connection within the Ofra-Costa Sur district.

The city is investing 2.7 million euros into the project, which aims to provide a wide range of multipurpose facilities. The design includes a covered court for futsal and other sports, calisthenics equipment, and Canary bowling lanes. Families and residents will also benefit from a shaded children’s playground, a skating area, a dedicated space for pets, and a flexible zone for community events. The entire site is being built with a focus on environmental sustainability and accessibility for everyone.

This project addresses a long-standing request from local residents, who can expect the renovated space to be completed by mid-2027. Beyond just building new facilities, the city is working to revitalize the area by incorporating new gardens and trees to improve the local landscape.

During a site visit, Mayor José Manuel Bermúdez and other city officials highlighted the importance of creating spaces where different generations can gather. The project is part of a broader strategy to decentralize sports and community services, ensuring that high-quality facilities are available throughout the city’s neighborhoods. Through this investment, the City Council aims to significantly improve the quality of life for residents in an area that has long needed updated public infrastructure.
