Santa Cruz de Tenerife Awards Water Quality Monitoring Contract to Cibus Scientia
Santa Cruz de Tenerife has awarded a two-year, 88,328-euro contract to Cibus Scientia to manage water quality monitoring and safety using zero-emission vehicles to support the city's sustainability goals.
Santa Cruz de Tenerife is upgrading its water management system following a recent decision by the local Governing Board. The City Council has signed a two-year contract with the firm Cibus Scientia to oversee the safety and quality of the city's water supply.
The agreement, worth 88,328 euros, runs through the 2028 fiscal year. A key feature of the contract is its focus on sustainability: Cibus Scientia has pledged to reduce transport fees by over 20% by using zero-emission vehicles, supporting the city’s goal of lowering its carbon footprint.
Cibus Scientia will manage the entire monitoring process, from collecting water samples across the distribution network to laboratory testing and reporting. This rigorous oversight is essential to ensure that the city’s tap water consistently meets all legal health and safety standards.
Mayor José Manuel Bermúdez noted that this contract is vital for maintaining public health in the capital. Carlos Tarife, the head of Public Services, added that the partnership allows for the rapid detection of any issues. By outsourcing these specialized quality controls, the city ensures that its water remains safe, reliable, and free from health risks.
