Santa Cruz de Tenerife has awarded a €3.1 million contract to modernize the El Mayorazgo industrial estate, focusing on road repairs, energy-efficient lighting, and expanded parking to boost local business competitiveness.

Santa Cruz de Tenerife is moving forward with plans to modernize the El Mayorazgo industrial estate. The City Council has officially awarded a contract worth over 3.1 million euros to upgrade the area and address years of wear and tear.

The project will be carried out by a joint venture between Construcciones Elfidio Pérez and Construcciones Darias. The work is being fast-tracked through a municipal framework agreement designed to streamline public infrastructure projects.

Carlos Tarife, the Councilor for Public Services, noted that these improvements have been long requested by local businesses. Constant heavy-vehicle traffic has severely damaged the roads, making daily operations difficult for companies in the area. The project is being funded with support from the Cabildo de Tenerife’s Department of Industry.

This upgrade is part of a wider strategy to boost the competitiveness of business parks across the island. Beyond resurfacing the roads, the project includes installing energy-efficient LED street lighting and creating more parking spaces. By improving safety and infrastructure, the local government hopes to support existing businesses, encourage growth, and protect jobs in this vital sector of the island’s economy.
