Santa Cruz de Tenerife Announces Traffic and Parking Restrictions for Plenilunio Festival
Santa Cruz de Tenerife will implement significant traffic diversions, parking bans, and enhanced public transport services from October 2 to 4 to accommodate the Plenilunio festival.
The upcoming Plenilunio festival in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, running from October 2 to 4, will bring significant changes to traffic and parking in the city center. To balance the event's hundred-plus cultural activities with daily traffic, the City Council and local police have introduced a phased mobility plan.
Traffic and Road Closures The plan begins this Thursday, with the most significant restrictions occurring during the drone show on Friday and the concerts on Saturday.
- Friday: From 8:00 p.m. to 10:15 p.m., the Avenida Marítima will be closed between Callejón Bouza and Plaza del Cabildo. Traffic will be diverted through the Vía Litoral tunnel. Access to the Plaza de España parking garage will be restricted from the north, affecting streets like La Marina, Bravo Murillo, and Villalba Hervás.
- Saturday: Closures will be in effect from 7:30 p.m. until midnight. During this time, vehicles exiting the Plaza de España garage must head south. The Avenida Marítima will remain closed to accommodate the musical performances.
Parking Restrictions On-street parking will be prohibited in several areas starting at 8:00 a.m. this Thursday through midnight on Sunday. Affected streets include Francisco La Roche, Puerto Escondido, La Marina, Imeldo Serís, José María de Villa, Numancia, Doctor José Naveiras, and Comandante Sánchez Pinto. Please check local signage for specific timing in these areas.
Public Transport and Taxis To help residents get around, the city is increasing public transport services:
- Extra Service: Lines 905, 908, 974, 122, and 232 will run additional services until the early hours of Sunday morning.
- Route Changes: Lines 910, 945, 946, 947, 921, 917, and 916 will bypass the Plaza de España stop, instead diverting through the Avenida Marítima tunnel.
- Taxis: The taxi stand on Doctor José Naveiras will have extended hours, and an additional temporary taxi rank will be available on the extension of Ramón y Cajal throughout Saturday.
