Santa Cruz de Tenerife Announces Second Annual "Welcome to Summer" Event
Santa Cruz de Tenerife will host its second annual "Welcome to Summer" event on June 19, featuring a city-wide commercial campaign and a sold-out "White Dinner" at the port to boost the local economy.
Santa Cruz de Tenerife is gearing up for a major push to boost its local economy and culture. The Santa Cruz Development Society has announced the second annual "Welcome to Summer" event, taking place on June 19 at the port esplanade. The event is part of a broader effort to support local businesses through a week of activities leading up to the main celebration.
The campaign has already gained significant traction, with 78 local restaurants, shops, and nightlife venues signing on to participate. Mayor José Manuel Bermúdez’s administration kept registration open until Wednesday afternoon, encouraging more small and medium-sized businesses to join the initiative and help drive consumer activity in the city.
Organizers expect over 5,000 people to visit the port facility for the main event. To ensure safety, the concert area will be capped at 4,500 attendees. Outside food and drinks will not be permitted, but refreshments will be available for purchase inside. The evening’s entertainment kicks off at 8:00 p.m. with performances by DJ Brito, the Maquinaria Band, and Estrellas Buena Vista.
A highlight of the evening is the "White Dinner," which proved so popular that all spots sold out within minutes. To make things easier for guests, organizers are providing the necessary tableware, allowing attendees to bring their own food or order meals from restaurants in the "Degusta Santa Cruz" club.
Carmen Pérez of the Development Society explained that the event is modeled after successful international urban revitalization projects. By using a "white" theme to unify the experience, the city hopes to strengthen its commercial identity, encourage shopping and dining throughout the year, and make better use of the port as a vibrant space for the community.
