Santa Cruz de Tenerife Announces Nighttime Tram Track Maintenance
Santa Cruz de Tenerife will implement nighttime lane closures on Avenida Príncipes de España from June 1 to June 9 to facilitate essential tram track maintenance.
Santa Cruz de Tenerife is beginning a new phase of railway maintenance, according to the city council. These repairs are part of a preventive schedule that started in April at key locations like Puente Zurita and Cruz del Señor. To complete this work, traffic on Avenida Príncipes de España will be reorganized over the coming week.
The project, coordinated by the Department of Mobility, the Local Police, and Metrotenerife, will focus on the curved section near Calle Domingo Salazar Cólogan. To minimize traffic disruption, the left lane heading uphill will be closed only at night, from 10:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m., starting Monday, June 1, through Tuesday, June 9.
The right lane will remain open at all times to ensure traffic flows smoothly during the day. Additionally, there will be no work over the weekend of June 6 and 7, when the road will be fully open.
Public transport will not be affected by these repairs. Both the tram network and Titsa bus lines will continue to run their usual routes and schedules, as the maintenance work does not interfere with their operations. This nighttime schedule is designed to ensure the safety and efficiency of the tram tracks, which require regular inspections to remain in good working order.
