Santa Cruz de Tenerife Announces Nighttime Traffic Restrictions for Tram Maintenance
Santa Cruz de Tenerife has implemented nightly traffic restrictions on Avenida Islas Canarias through May 10 to facilitate essential tram track maintenance near the Cruz del Señor area.
Santa Cruz de Tenerife City Council has announced that traffic restrictions on Avenida Islas Canarias will continue as maintenance work on the tram tracks moves to the Cruz del Señor area. This follows the successful completion of initial repairs near Puente Zurita and is part of the city’s ongoing efforts to improve accessibility.
The work, overseen by the Mobility Department in coordination with local police and the tram operator, will take place only at night, between 10:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. During these hours, the left lane heading uphill between Calle Juan Rumeu García and the Cuesta Piedra junction will be closed. The right lane will remain open to ensure traffic can still pass through.
Public transport will not be affected. Tram Line 1 and all Titsa bus routes will continue to run their normal schedules and use their usual stops, ensuring no disruption for passengers.
Work crews and temporary signs will be in place until Sunday, May 10. Authorities are asking drivers to be cautious when passing through the Cruz del Señor area at night and suggest planning ahead to avoid potential delays. These repairs are essential for keeping the tram infrastructure safe and reliable for the city.
