Santa Cruz de Tenerife Announces New Phase of Road Improvements Starting August 24
Santa Cruz de Tenerife will begin a new phase of road resurfacing work on August 24, leading to temporary traffic closures and detours in several residential streets through August 28.
Road improvements in Santa Cruz de Tenerife enter a new phase next Monday, August 24, as part of the city’s "Urban Impulse" strategy. This ongoing plan aims to repair wear and tear on streets across the capital’s various districts.
Led by the Public Services department, the project will focus on resurfacing Calle Domingo Salazar Cólogan, along with the intersecting streets of Igueste and Eladio Afonso y González. Work will take place daily from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., ending on Friday, August 28.
These improvements will cause some traffic disruption. The intersection of Calle Elías Bacallado and Calle Igueste will be closed, and detours with clear signage will be in place to guide drivers.
Mayor José Manuel Bermúdez stated that these repairs are part of a broader effort to improve road safety in residential areas. Because the paving work is complex, the City Council is asking for the public's cooperation. Residents are urged to move their vehicles from the affected areas before work begins, and both drivers and pedestrians are asked to exercise caution when traveling near the construction sites.
These projects are part of a wider municipal goal to modernize neighborhood infrastructure and ensure that the city’s road network remains safe and functional.
