Santa Cruz de Tenerife Announces 18th Edition of Plenilunio Festival
Santa Cruz de Tenerife will host the 18th edition of Plenilunio from October 2 to 4, featuring over 100 cultural activities centered on the four natural elements to boost the local economy.
Santa Cruz de Tenerife is gearing up for the 18th edition of Plenilunio, which will transform the city from October 2 to 4. This year, the popular event—a major boost for the local economy—will center its cultural and leisure activities around the theme of the four natural elements.
The event is a significant financial driver for local businesses. According to city officials, the previous edition generated nearly three million euros, with attendees spending an average of 54 euros each, primarily in restaurants. To build on this success, the City Council is launching a consumer voucher campaign that will run throughout the Sundays of October.
Plenilunio will span a large area of the city, stretching from the Rambla to the port. Key landmarks, including García Sanabria Park, the Masonic Temple, the MUNA, and the Museum of Fine Arts, will host parts of the festivities. The program features over 100 activities, highlighted by a drone show on October 2. Five hundred drones will take to the sky over the Muelle esplanade for two performances, at 8:30 p.m. and 10:00 p.m., accompanied by live music.
The schedule is tailored to different audiences. October 3 will feature a nighttime concert series on the Avenida Marítima with artists including Locoplaya, Lewis Potter, Daniela Garsal, and Santora DJ. Sunday, October 4, will focus on family-friendly events. Other attractions include an animatronic "Dragons" exhibition at the Plaza del Cabildo, traditional craft markets in the Plazas de España and La Candelaria, and "Le Good Market" in García Sanabria Park on Saturday.
These large-scale events are part of the city’s strategy to turn public spaces into hubs for social and economic activity. Local officials note that Plenilunio’s success relies on a wide network of technical suppliers, infrastructure companies, and service professionals, making it a cornerstone of the island's cultural calendar.
