Santa Cruz Council Relaunches Tender to Revive García Sanabria Park Kiosk
Santa Cruz de Tenerife City Council has launched a new tender to reopen the kiosk-bar in García Sanabria Park following two years of inactivity and ongoing emergency structural repairs.
Santa Cruz de Tenerife City Council has restarted the process to bring hospitality back to García Sanabria Park. The municipal government has approved the tender to operate the kiosk-bar located on the promenade near the Rambla, a space previously managed by the Strasse terrace until 2024.
This move aims to end two years of inactivity, during which the facilities have fallen into disrepair. The council has finalized the technical and financial requirements for a new competitive bidding process. The next step is to publish the tender on the Public Sector Contracting Platform, where interested companies can submit their proposals.
This new effort follows a failed attempt in 2024, which was declared void last August. At that time, three companies expressed interest, but the process stalled after two failed to meet the necessary criteria and the third withdrew its bid.
While the administrative process moves forward, the City Council has already begun emergency repairs. Workers have started removing the wooden decking in the upper area to fix structural issues in the ceiling below, which posed a safety risk. These repairs are essential to restoring the site, which remains a key leisure destination in the heart of the city.
