The Santa Cruz de Tenerife City Council expressed disappointment over new taxi protests called by Élite Taxi, regretting their negative impact on the city while negotiation channels remain open and an extensive license buyback program is underway.

The Santa Cruz de Tenerife City Council has expressed its disappointment regarding the new taxi protests called by the Élite Taxi association. These demonstrations are planned for today, as well as the 7th and 26th of this month. The Council regrets that these actions are being promoted, as they negatively affect residents, traffic, and the city's economy, especially since all channels for negotiation remain open.

The Mobility department stressed that any demands should be made through official channels, such as the Taxi Board meeting scheduled for the 12th. They believe it's important to avoid actions that negatively impact the city.

The Council stated that "protests that block traffic are not the best way to champion causes that are already being addressed." They pointed out that a program to buy back taxi licenses began in 2013. To date, this program has bought back 414 licenses, totaling 13,455,000 euros.
