Santa Cruz City Council has selected ten projects, totaling 14.28 million euros and funded by a European program, to modernize and improve the city's infrastructure and services across housing, transport, environment, and digital access.

Santa Cruz City Council has chosen ten projects to help improve the city. The city's planning department has finalized the list of these projects, which are part of its Local Integrated Development Strategy (EDIL). These projects are worth 14.28 million euros and match the funding received from a European program for sustainable urban development (2025-2027).

This selection process focused on projects that are most needed and can be completed effectively, especially in areas like housing, transport, environmental sustainability, digital services, and improving public spaces.

One key project, costing 180,000 euros, aims to improve digital access in city buildings. This includes installing public Wi-Fi in City Council buildings to modernize services, make online procedures easier, and improve direct assistance for residents.

Transport is another focus, with 2.5 million euros allocated to set up a new control center. This center will manage the city's transport, optimize traffic lights, public transport, and traffic flow, making the city safer, more efficient, and more sustainable.

An investment of 300,000 euros will go towards creating an integrated platform to improve how the City Council connects with residents and businesses. This platform will help anticipate needs, centralize information, and offer better support through various channels.

Another project, costing one million euros, will focus on creating safer school environments. This involves developing a Master Plan for School Environments and carrying out improvements in various nurseries and primary schools.

A park will also be created between the two towers of Cabo Llanos. With an investment of 2.5 million euros, this park will become a large urban ecological corridor, connecting green spaces, increasing shaded areas, and boosting biodiversity.

Other plans include spending 1.8 million euros to add awnings for shade on Calle Castillo, as well as in playgrounds and football fields. Additionally, 500,000 euros will go towards creating a Carnival Walk of Fame, and 650,000 euros will promote a Digital Hub. This hub aims to foster innovation and talent in creative and tech industries, supporting digital entrepreneurship.

For 200,000 euros, surveillance towers will be installed on beaches, along with new sports and leisure facilities in coastal areas. Finally, 4 million euros is set aside for building public housing in the Southwest. The council expects these projects to be completed, with the first financial targets met by 2026.
