Santa Cruz Carnival Ticket Sales "Disastrous," Council Vows Changes
Santa Cruz de Tenerife's Fiestas Councillor Javier Caraballero slammed the "disastrous" online Carnival ticket sales after a system failure, announcing future plans for staggered and potentially personal tickets while not ruling out penalties for the company.
Javier Caraballero, the Councillor for Fiestas in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, yesterday described the company managing online ticket sales for the Carnival contests as "disastrous." A new computer system failed, preventing many people from buying tickets, which forced the City Council to stop sales shortly after they began.
Responding to the PSOE party, Mr. Caraballero announced plans for future Carnivals. He said they would introduce "staggered sales" for different contests to prevent the system from getting overloaded. They are also considering making tickets personal (nominative) and adding entry checks. He added that these ideas would be discussed with the groups involved in the Carnival.
"The company has apologized, but that's not enough," Caraballero stated, calling the situation "a lack of respect for the Carnival." He added that they are not ruling out penalties and will request technical reports to determine who is responsible.
