The Santa Cruz de Tenerife City Council is increasing minibus service frequency on line 945 to improve transport access and reduce traffic congestion during upcoming festivities in Igueste de San Andrés.

The Santa Cruz de Tenerife City Council is prioritizing better transport for rural areas with challenging terrain, starting with a special operation for the upcoming festivities in Igueste de San Andrés. To discourage private car use on the area's narrow, complex roads, the council is increasing the frequency of Titsa’s line 945 on the nights of July 4 and 11, 2026.

The Department of Mobility and Universal Accessibility has selected two 7.8-meter-long minibuses for this service. These smaller vehicles, which seat 26 passengers each, were chosen specifically for their ability to navigate the tight turns on the road between the Interchange and Igueste safely.

Mayor José Manuel Bermúdez described the initiative as part of a wider effort to better connect peripheral neighborhoods with the city center. Evelyn Alonso, head of the department, confirmed that this is not a one-off event; instead, it is part of a long-term plan to promote public transport during major local events.

By offering a reliable alternative to driving, the City Council aims to reduce traffic congestion on narrow roads, lower carbon emissions, and ensure that residents can travel to and from local celebrations safely and comfortably.
