Santa Cruz Announces Ofra Traffic Plan, Bus Changes for Road Resurfacing
The Santa Cruz de Tenerife City Council has announced a special traffic plan for the Ofra neighborhood due to 67,000-euro road resurfacing work on Antonio José Melo y Novo street, starting this Monday until March 18, which will impact traffic, parking, and public bus services.
City maintenance work, though essential for keeping our cities running smoothly, often causes disruptions. Because of this, the Santa Cruz de Tenerife City Council has announced a special traffic plan for the Ofra neighborhood. This plan is needed due to upcoming road resurfacing work on Antonio José Melo y Novo street.
This project, costing 67,000 euros, is set to start this Monday and will continue until March 18. The Public Services department will manage the work, which will mostly happen during the day, from 7:30 AM to 5:00 PM. However, traffic and parking restrictions will begin earlier, at 7:00 AM on Monday, to allow machinery to get in place. To help reduce problems for local residents and drivers, the work will be carried out in three stages.
These works will directly impact local traffic, parking, and public transport. The Santa Cruz Local Police will enforce parking bans along the affected road. Around 25 meters of space will be reserved on Teniente Alfonso González Campos street, and 30 meters on Doctor Corviniano Rodríguez López street – this includes the taxi stand area. These changes will be introduced gradually as the resurfacing work progresses.
Public bus services will also see major changes. Bus routes 905, 911, and 971 will follow altered paths. Buses heading towards González Campos will be diverted from Conde de Pallasar, going instead towards the Santa Clara roundabout, then along Santa María Soledad and Zafiro street. This means the Ofra Institute bus stop will be temporarily closed. Titsa, the bus company, has set up alternative stops on Zafiro and González Campos streets for passengers.
