The Coastal Neighborhood Association of San Juan de la Rambla will host a "Neighbors' Day" on October 25th to protest the City Council's ongoing neglect of the local playground.

Residents of San Juan de la Rambla are taking a stand. The local Coastal Neighborhood Association has organized the first "Neighbors' Day" on October 25th, starting at 12:00 p.m. at the La Caldereta recreational area.

While the event will feature a communal meal and a festive atmosphere, the primary goal is to protest the poor condition of the local playground. Residents argue that the park has fallen into disrepair due to long-term neglect by the City Council, despite repeated requests for repairs. Under local government law, town councils are responsible for maintaining the safety and hygiene of children’s play areas, a duty the community feels has been ignored.

To ensure their voices are heard, the association has invited local political representatives and island authorities to attend. They have also asked the City Council to provide basic logistical support, such as tables and chairs, viewing this as a test of the council's commitment to local families.

The event will culminate in the reading of a manifesto calling for immediate improvements to the playground. This follows a recent poster contest where residents shared their vision for a better park, with the winning design serving as the face of the campaign. By launching this annual event, the association hopes to boost community engagement and pressure officials to finally address the town's basic needs.
