The Tenerife town of San Juan de la Rambla is leveraging its participation in the popular television show Grand Prix del Verano as a strategic opportunity to boost local tourism and community spirit.

San Juan de la Rambla’s appearance on this year’s Grand Prix del Verano has become more than just a game show—it has turned into a major promotional opportunity for the Tenerife town. Selected from over 1,000 applicants, the town’s participation highlights how popular television can serve as a powerful marketing tool for smaller communities.

To celebrate, the Municipal Sports Pavilion will host a public viewing event on August 2nd at 8:00 p.m., where residents can watch the town compete against Quintanar del Rey, a municipality in Cuenca. The logistics for the show were significant, involving a trip to Madrid for 140 residents, 40 of whom competed in the challenges while the rest cheered from the stands.

Local officials view the experience as a landmark moment for community spirit. Mayor Juan Ramos, who participated in the challenges himself, and Councilor for Sports María García, both emphasized that the true value lies in the national exposure and the way the event has brought the town together. Regardless of the final score, the local government believes the media coverage provides a level of tourism promotion that would be difficult to achieve through traditional advertising, marking the experience as a proud new chapter in the town's history.
