San Cristóbal de La Laguna to Host Inaugural "Blue Mile" for Men's Health Awareness
San Cristóbal de La Laguna will host the inaugural "Blue Mile" on November 21, a charity race organized to promote men’s health awareness and raise funds for the Spanish Association Against Cancer.
San Cristóbal de La Laguna is hosting the first "Blue Mile" on November 21, a new athletic event designed to raise awareness about men’s health and cancer prevention. The race is officially recognized by the Tenerife Island Athletics Federation.
While the event features a competitive race, its primary goal is social impact. All registration fees will be donated to the Spanish Association Against Cancer. The initiative was launched by Dr. Amir Balig, a specialist in Reconstructive Urology and Andrology, to emphasize the importance of early diagnosis and regular medical check-ups in combating prostate cancer.
Organized by the Aguere Club and the local council’s Sports Organization (OAD), the race will follow an urban route from Plaza del Cristo to Calle Viana. By reviving the classic "mile" distance, the event aims to combine local sporting tradition with a vital public health message, encouraging community participation in a historic setting.
