San Cristóbal de La Laguna Hosts Annual Craft Fair for Cristo Festival
San Cristóbal de La Laguna will host its annual Craft Fair on September 12 and 13, featuring 38 artisans showcasing a mix of traditional and contemporary goods to support local craftsmanship.
San Cristóbal de La Laguna is set to host its annual Craft Fair this weekend as part of the Cristo Festival celebrations. Organized by the local city council, the event aims to support traditional craftsmanship and ensure these manual skills are passed down to future generations in an era of mass production.
The fair will take place on September 12 and 13 along Camino Largo and Avenida de la Universidad. Visitors can browse stalls from 11:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., with opening hours extended by 30 minutes compared to last year.
Thirty-eight artisans will showcase a blend of traditional techniques and modern design. The event will feature classic island crafts—such as pottery, carpentry, lace-making, and traditional clothing—alongside contemporary items like jewelry, leather goods, ceramics, candles, patchwork, and fashion made from recycled materials.
Domingo Galván, the Councilor for Local Promotion and Development, emphasized that the fair is vital for the sustainability of small workshops. By hosting the event at Camino Largo, a busy hub during the patron saint festivities, the council hopes to give these artisans greater visibility and highlight the economic importance of preserving local technical skills.
