San Cristóbal de La Laguna will host a diverse program of cultural, religious, and sporting events from September 3 to 26, featuring major musical performances by Antonio Orozco and Luz Casal alongside traditional civic celebrations.
San Cristóbal de La Laguna is gearing up for a major celebration this September, with a packed schedule running from September 3 to 21, followed by a final sporting event on September 26. The city has designed a program that blends traditional religious observances with a wide variety of cultural and leisure activities.
The Plaza del Cristo will serve as the main hub for the festivities. It will host the opening proclamation by Pedro Arturo López Cabrera and a symphonic concert to kick off the events. The musical lineup is particularly impressive, featuring free performances by Antonio Orozco and Luz Casal. Other highlights include appearances by Los Gofiones, Taburiente, and Los Cantadores—who will be joined by Pitingo and Lucrecia—as well as the 48th edition of the Sabandeño Festival, which will celebrate Mexican music with guests Cristina Ramos and Jorge de León.
September 14 marks the heart of the celebrations. The day will follow its traditional religious and civic schedule, including the procession of the Royal Standard and a visit from the President of the Canary Islands, Fernando Clavijo, representing the Royal Household. The religious ceremonies will conclude with the iconic "Fuegos del Risco" (Cliff Fireworks).
The festivities offer something for everyone. Families can enjoy Sunday children’s fairs and tribute shows, while comedy fans can look forward to performances by Darío López, Abubukaka, and Kike Pérez. The program also includes an inclusive open-air dance and a variety of sports, such as soccer, domino tournaments, races, volleyball, and a boxing night to close out the month.
Rounding out the schedule is a rich cultural program, including open-air cinema and art exhibitions at venues like the Hermitage of San Miguel Arcángel, La Carrera Street, and the Casa de los Capitanes. With events like the Siroco Festival and a concert by the University of La Laguna’s Symphonic Band, the city aims to boost local social and economic life, cementing these festivities as a highlight of the regional calendar.
