San Cristóbal de La Laguna Announces Major Traffic Disruptions for Christ Festivities

San Cristóbal de La Laguna will face significant traffic disruptions this Monday, September 14, as the city celebrates the main day of the Most Holy Christ Festivities. Due to a busy schedule of religious ceremonies, institutional events, and a fireworks display, local authorities have announced major changes to traffic and parking throughout the historic center.

Starting at 7:00 a.m., parking will be prohibited along the routes used for the day’s processions, including the 10:00 a.m. Civic-Military Procession and the return of the Most Holy Christ at noon. Key areas affected include Plaza del Adelantado, Obispo Rey Redondo Street, the Cathedral, and the surroundings of the Royal Sanctuary. The taxi stand at Plaza del Adelantado will move to Santo Domingo Street until 4:00 p.m.

The evening schedule will bring further restrictions. From 5:00 p.m., parking will be banned in event areas, and the San Roque Military Track will close. On the Vía de Ronda (TF-13), traffic will be limited to one-way flow (downward toward the TF-5) between the Las Mercedes roundabout and Las Quinteras Street starting at 7:00 p.m.

The most significant disruption will occur at 10:30 p.m., when the TF-13 will close completely in both directions between the Las Mercedes roundabout and Magistrado Campo Llarena Street. This closure will also impact roads near the Courthouse, El Pilar-Bronco, and Camino Las Peras.

Officials warn that these plans may change based on safety requirements and event progress. Drivers are strongly encouraged to plan their travel in advance and expect delays on alternative routes.
