Ryanair leaves Tenerife North: What will change for tourists?
Ryanair is suspending flights from Tenerife North Airport in winter, which may affect the cost and convenience of air travel to the island.
We're used to it: pull out your phone, compare prices in a couple of clicks, and choose an airport. The cheapest one is where we fly! In Tenerife, we even chose between the North and South airports to suit the schedule, get home more conveniently, or simply save time if flying from a big city.
Sometimes, families combined airports: arriving in the north and flying back from the south. The main thing was that the flights connected and were financially beneficial. And Ryanair has been ruling the prices here for years, especially for short vacations, trips to relatives, or flights to small cities.
But now everything is changing. Ryanair has announced that it will not fly from Tenerife North in the winter and is transferring its planes to other locations in Spain.
So, let's figure out what has changed, what has remained, and how to fly now to avoid surprises.
In short, now you will only fly with Ryanair to TFS (South Airport).
What does this mean for the North Airport (TFN)? It will continue to fly to other cities, but with other airlines. Perhaps, because Ryanair will no longer be undercutting prices, tickets will become a little more expensive. Therefore, it is worth buying them in advance and choosing a less popular time.
This life hack will continue to work, but you need to plan better: rent a car at one airport and return it at another, or order a transfer to avoid getting nervous (and spending extra money) on the way back.
But this is not the end of air travel to Tenerife! Other airlines are maintaining flights and even adding new ones. And the South Airport will continue to offer many cheap tickets.
However, if you are from a big city, you will feel the changes: now you will have to choose more often between cheapness and convenience.
