RTVE Plans Dual New Year's Eve Broadcasts: Puerta del Sol and Canary Islands Shine
RTVE will ring in 2026 with a dual New Year's Eve broadcast featuring hosts Andreu Buenafuente and Silvia Abril at Madrid's Puerta del Sol, and a second show from Santa Cruz de Tenerife hosted by NIA and st. Pedro, highlighting Canary Islands talent and music.
RTVE is planning a memorable New Year's Eve in 2025 with a special broadcast that blends tradition, music during the midnight chimes, and talent from the Canary Islands. For the first time, following the traditional broadcast from Puerta del Sol, there will be a second broadcast from Santa Cruz de Tenerife, featuring the New Year's Eve chimes with music taking center stage.
The Canary Islands broadcast will be hosted by NIA, a Spanish artist with significant international recognition and the recent winner of the Viña del Mar Festival 2025. This will be her fourth time hosting the RTVE New Year's Eve chimes.
Joining her will be st. Pedro, making his debut on this major event after impressing audiences with his second-place finish at Benidorm Fest 2024. The singer, who also performs the daily theme song for the series "Valle salvaje" on La 1, is part of an event designed to highlight the musical talent of the Canary Islands to millions of viewers.
Meanwhile, Puerta del Sol will once again be the heart of the nation's celebrations with two popular personalities: Andreu Buenafuente and Silvia Abril. RTVE has chosen them to lead the farewell to 2025 and welcome 2026 in a live broadcast promising humor, warmth, and their signature style.
Buenafuente, director and host of "Futuro Imperfecto" (produced by RTVE with El Terrat), and Abril, who currently hosts "La recepta perduda" on RTVE Catalunya, will team up to aim for a repeat of last year's success.
The broadcaster is setting high expectations for this New Year's Eve. In 2024, with David Broncano and Lala Chús as hosts, RTVE was the leading broadcaster, attracting 5,958,000 viewers and a 38.7% share, outperforming its closest competitor by over ten points.
With two distinct broadcasts, well-known personalities, and a stronger musical emphasis, RTVE is preparing to deliver New Year's Eve chimes that aim to captivate Spanish families and become a viral sensation on social media and Discover.
