The Royal Canarian Academy of Fine Arts in Santa Cruz de Tenerife will host a free concert this Friday at 7:00 p.m. featuring the ensemble El Afecto Ilustrado performing the Baroque works of violinist Nicola Matteis.

The Royal Canarian Academy of Fine Arts (Racba) is hosting a special evening dedicated to the European Baroque this Friday in Santa Cruz de Tenerife. Starting at 7:00 p.m., the event will focus on the work of Nicola Matteis, a 17th-century violinist and composer who played a key role in bringing Italian musical styles to England and shaping performance techniques of the era.

The performance will be led by El Afecto Ilustrado, an ensemble that specializes in historically informed music. They aim to showcase how Matteis influenced the musical trends of his time. Supported by the Cabildo de Tenerife, the concert will take place at the academy’s headquarters at Plaza de Ireneo González, 1.

The event is free to the public and open until the venue reaches capacity. As part of the academy’s summer program, this concert highlights their commitment to promoting cultural works that are rarely heard in mainstream venues, offering a unique chance to explore the technical innovations that helped build the foundation of European chamber music.
