Elástica Films, producers of "Romería," acquired a screenplay from the IsLABentura Canarias 2025 program, which supports Canary Islands-based stories and concluded with a presentation to production companies in La Palma.

Elástica Films, the company behind the hit movie "Romería," has just signed a deal to produce one of the screenplays from the IsLABentura Canarias 2025 program.

This announcement comes as the program wraps up, with the screenwriters preparing to present their finished screenplays to about twenty production companies from Spain and abroad. These companies are visiting the Canary Islands to find stories for new films and TV shows.

This year, the event is being held in La Palma. Everyone will be staying in Puerto Naos, an area that was badly affected by the volcano but is now starting to recover, four years after the eruption. The screenwriters will present their stories to the production companies at Casa Massieu de Argual, a few kilometers away, this Friday. On Saturday, the awards ceremony will take place at Antonio Gómez Felipe Park in Los Llanos de Aridane.

The Culture department of the regional government, which organizes IsLABentura Canarias, decided to hold the event in La Palma to help boost the island's economy and attract investment. Representatives from around twenty production companies will be there, including Movistar Plus, Amazon, MediaPro, TeleCinco Cinema, Mediacrest, Onza, Portocabo, and Elástica Films.

This presentation to production companies is the final step in a creative process that includes support for the screenwriters in developing their stories, according to Cristóbal de la Rosa, the regional government's Director of Cultural Innovation and Creative Industries. He emphasizes the importance of the expert tutoring team.

The screenplay that Elástica Films has acquired is called "Goda," written by Katia Klein. It's a feature film set in Lanzarote. María Zamora, the head of Elástica Films, will be in La Palma to learn more about the other projects being presented.

In this year's program, 16 screenplays have been developed, with stories set on different Canary Islands. Seven are for feature films, seven are for TV series, and, for the first time, two are for animated projects.
