Singer Rocío Márquez and guitarist Pedro Rojas Ogáyar will perform their experimental flamenco work Himno vertical at the Auditorio de Tenerife this Saturday, exploring themes of life and transformation.

This Saturday, the Tenerife cultural scene will host a performance that pushes the boundaries of traditional flamenco. The Auditorio de Tenerife’s Chamber Hall will feature singer Rocío Márquez and guitarist Pedro Rojas Ogáyar performing Himno vertical. Supported by the National Institute of Performing Arts and Music (INAEM), the show begins at 7:30 p.m. and explores themes of human life and transition through the lens of a requiem.

The performance highlights the career of Márquez, an artist known for blending deep-rooted flamenco traditions with a modern, experimental approach. Rather than following a traditional funeral theme, the work explores a circular view of existence. It moves away from the idea of death as a final ending, instead using music to suggest that transformation is the only constant state of being.

Himno vertical is part of a contemporary movement that views death not as something to be feared, but as a natural part of life. The performance avoids traditional themes of mourning, opting instead for a secular ceremony where music serves as a form of gratitude and connection. Through this show, the duo invites the audience to reflect on the cyclical nature of life, suggesting that every pause is simply a turning point for renewal.
