Spanish rock icon Robe Iniesta, frontman of Extremoduro and a celebrated musical poet, has died at 63 after a year-long illness, leaving behind a profound legacy in Spanish music.

Robe Iniesta will be remembered as much more than a singer; he was a musical poet, a unique voice who turned feelings into lyrics that resonated with generations. The artist, born in Plasencia in 1962, passed away tonight at 63 after battling an illness for a year.

As a composer, guitarist, and the creative force behind the influential Spanish rock band Extremoduro, Robe leaves behind a huge legacy. His songs and lyrics touched thousands of lives and will continue to be heard for decades. In Santa Cruz de Tenerife, he performed for what would be his second-to-last show, unaware that his voice would be silenced forever just a week later. That powerful and emotional performance has now become a deeply symbolic farewell for his fans.

His record label, Dromedario Records, released a very emotional statement. It read: "Today we say goodbye to the last great philosopher, the last great humanist and contemporary Spanish-language writer, and the singer whose melodies have moved generations upon generations." The label called this message "the saddest note of our lives."

Robe had to stop his ‘Ni santos ni inocentes’ (Neither Saints Nor Innocents) tour early. He had two sold-out concerts planned for November 15 and 16, 2024, at the WiZink Center (now Movistar Arena). However, doctors ordered him complete rest due to a pulmonary thromboembolism, a serious condition causing shortness of breath, chest pain, and a fast heart rate. The tour cancellation was not an artistic choice, but a necessary medical decision.

On November 9, 2024, in Vigo, Robe performed what would unknowingly be his final concert. His fans heard the Extremaduran's voice live for the last time, a performance that has since gained immense significance. On the IFEVI stage, Robe played his last chord, spoke his last words, and shared an energy that no one realized would be unrepeatable. Neither the audience nor Robe himself knew that night marked the end of an era, the unexpected close of a career that changed Spanish music forever.

A week before his Vigo concert, Robe Iniesta played two shows in the Canary Islands. He performed in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria on November 1, and in Santa Cruz de Tenerife on November 2. No one knew then that the capital of Tenerife would host the rock poet's last night in the archipelago.

A few days before those shows, Robe gave an interview to this newspaper. He said he was enjoying "a very beautiful tour" and spoke about his personal life, current music, and his thoughts on the art world. He couldn't have known that this tour would also be his farewell.

At the concert in the Palmetum parking lot, thousands of people were moved by his music. He played both his newer songs and classic Extremoduro hits. It was a live show full of emotion, nostalgia, and a sensitivity that now holds special meaning.

It was an intense and memorable night. Even the light rain in Santa Cruz couldn't dampen the spirits of his fans, who were unknowingly celebrating their last time with Robe Iniesta. This evening will forever be remembered by the audience, who, tonight, after hearing of his passing, feel its immortal impact even more deeply.
