The Skyrunning World Championships will take place in 2026, and the Spaniards competed at Gomera Paradise XIV.
At the Gomera Paradise XIV competition in Spain, Estanislao Rivero and Chili Aguilera won the Ultratrail Isla de La Gomera, and the Teror Trail and Alpino de Benalmádena teams won the Spanish Ultra-Trail Club Championship.
Great news for skyrunning fans: the World Championship will be held from September 18 to 20, 2026!
Also, the Gomera Paradise XIV competition, as well as the Spanish Ultra-Trail Championships among clubs (FEDME) and individual competitions (FECAMON), recently took place on the island of La Gomera (Spain).
Most importantly: Teror Trail won among men, and Alpino de Benalmádena among women. Estanislao Rivero and Chili Aguilera became the best in the Ultratrail Isla de La Gomera distance. The heat did not hinder the organizers, who ensured a sufficient number of food stations, rescuers, and safety for the 1,300 participants.
Estanislao Rivero showed a stable result on the 78 km distance with an elevation gain of 5,300 m. From the very beginning of the race in Valle Gran Rey, Alexis Martín, Álvaro Escuela, Laureano Sobral, and Rivero himself were in the lead. Escuela broke away by 6 minutes in Vallehermoso, but dropped out due to problems. Then Rivero took the lead and finished with a time of 11:20'40'', ahead of Alexis (11:26''44'') and Laureano Sobral (11:45).
The competition was intense among women. Chili Aguilar from Alpino de Benalmádena took the lead when leaders such as Yamila Medina and Anabel de la Rosa began to lag behind. Claudia Mola and Marina Hernández competed for second place. As a result, Aguilar won with a result of 12:57:26, Claudia Mola came in second (13:30'08''), and her teammate Eva María Moreda came in third. Thanks to this, Alpino de Benalmádena won the Spanish Championship.
Simultaneously with the closing of the Ultra support point in Vallehermoso, the Miel de Palma Marathon started. There were also dropouts here, including Jairo Ponce. Sergio Machín (4:57'20'') broke away and led the group, which included Jorge Fagundo (5:14'47'') and David Muntaner (5:20'13''), who overtook Pedro Juan Díaz (5:20'19'') in the final sprint. Among women, Nuria Muñoz confirmed her status as a favorite, finishing first (7:14'19''). Cristina San Emeterio (7:32'40'') and Marta Bazán (7:41'18'') took second and third places, respectively.
Marco Rodríguez improved his 2024 result, stopping the clock at 3:08'04''. Juan José Rodríguez from Tijarafe finished second (3:31'06''), and Brayan Guerra finished third (3:43'34''). Verónica Suárez won among women (4:32'46''). Beatriz López (4:48'38'') and María del Carmen Hernández (5:12'02'') took second and third places.
Jorge Hernández from CanaryRunmer, Estela Guerra (who again became the first among women and twelfth overall), as well as Rayco López and Magdalena Delgado won in the short distances.
