The new eco-friendly luxury expedition superyacht Luminara from Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection made its inaugural visit to Santa Cruz de Tenerife before departing for Cape Town, South Africa.

This Thursday, the port of Santa Cruz de Tenerife welcomed the Luminara for the first time. It's one of the new luxury expedition superyachts from the prestigious Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection, a fleet that is set to begin full operations in 2025 and is already considered among the most exclusive vessels in the world.

The megayacht is 241 meters long and 29 meters wide, weighing 48,072 gross tons. Its engines run on liquefied natural gas (LNG), making it one of the most eco-friendly luxury cruise ships of its kind.

For this visit, the Luminara carried 75 passengers and 360 crew members. Its full capacity is much higher, as it's built for luxury trips, not for mass tourism.

The Luminara left Tenerife this afternoon, heading for Cape Town, South Africa. Passengers boarded at the port's Heliport Terminal before its departure.

The Luminara is one of Ritz-Carlton's new boutique ships. It offers a five-star hotel experience at sea, moving away from the traditional cruise model. Guests can enjoy private terrace suites, gourmet dining, a world-class spa, and nearly one-to-one service with almost as many crew members as passengers.

Its design blends expedition travel with top-tier comfort. It's built for long ocean journeys, like its current trip from the Canary Islands to Africa.

The Port Authority of Santa Cruz de Tenerife called the Luminara's arrival "another step in making the island a top destination for luxury sea travel." In recent years, the port has seen more conventional cruises, but also a rise in luxury ships and large yachts – a sector that brings significant economic benefits.
