The Repsol Guide has expanded its recommendations to over 5,500 venues across Spain, enlisting cultural figures to help curate a diverse list that prioritizes local identity and accessible dining over traditional luxury ratings.

The Repsol Guide has added over 250 new locations to its list of recommendations across Spain, bringing its total to more than 5,500 venues. This update continues a strategy launched in 2021 that shifts the focus away from traditional "Soles" (Suns) haute cuisine, prioritizing local identity and accessibility instead.

To curate this latest selection, the guide invited prominent figures from film, music, and literature to share their personal favorites. Contributors included Antonio Resines, Isabel Coixet, Fangoria, Juan Gómez-Jurado, and Arde Bogotá. This diverse group helped identify a wide range of spots—from casual eateries and terraces to wine bars and pastry shops—that better reflect everyday dining in Spain.

In the Canary Islands, the guide highlights two specific spots. Actress Toni Acosta recommended Casa África in Taganana, Tenerife, for its traditional papas arrugadas with mojo sauce. Meanwhile, writer Lana Corujo selected La Raspa in Arrecife, Lanzarote, noting its strong connection to the local port and city life.

The full list spans the country, featuring everything from Joseín’s terrace in Comillas and a burger joint in Madrid’s Ciudad Lineal district to a Basque restaurant on the Alicante coast.

María Ritter, director of the Repsol Guide, explained that the goal is to highlight businesses that enhance the traveler's experience, whether they are long-standing institutions or new ventures. By focusing on a venue's character and local roots rather than luxury ratings, the guide aims to promote a more democratic approach to gastronomy.
