
Repeat Offender Arrested After Güímar Machete Threats

A man caused alarm among residents in a southern Tenerife town on Sunday night. The incident happened in the coastal area of Güímar, where a man used a machete to threaten several people.
The Civil Guard received a call reporting that a man was wielding a large knife and terrorizing residents in El Puertito de Güímar. Some people had to take shelter in local bars to feel safe. Eventually, some residents managed to overpower the violent man.
Civil Guard officers arrived at the scene. After gathering statements from several witnesses, they arrested the man for the crime.
Sources consulted by EL DÍA newspaper confirm that this isn't the first time such incidents have occurred in El Puertito de Güímar in recent months. On previous occasions, Güímar local police have dealt with a Colombian national who is known for aggressive behavior and threatening residents in the area.
One time, municipal officers identified him after he intimidated people with what appeared to be a pistol. Officials later confirmed it was an object that shoots pellets. Police have had to intervene seven or eight times due to disturbances caused by this person. However, until now, no one had filed a formal complaint against him.
