Reggae Can Festival Unveils New Song Featuring Queen of Bass, Ruts & La Isla Music
The Reggae Can Festival has released its new official song, "Reggae Can Festival," a genre-blending track featuring Tenerife DJ Andrea Álvarez (The Queen of Bass) and reggae artist Ruts & La Isla Music, promoting the 11th festival set for November 7-8, 2025.
The Reggae Can Festival has released its new official song, also called "Reggae Can Festival." This track was partly created during last year's festival by Tenerife DJ and producer Andrea Álvarez, known as The Queen of Bass. Ruts & La Isla Music, a well-known reggae artist from the Canary Islands, also lent her voice to the project.
Andrea Álvarez, a 24-year-old from Tenerife, is a leading figure in the Drum & Bass scene in the Canary Islands. She's been passionate about music and vinyl since she was 16, and is now one of the few producers in the region fully focused on this genre. Through her record label and promotion company, High Frequency Tenerife, she has helped strengthen "bass culture" on the islands, bringing together electronic music and local talent.
The song 'Reggae Can Festival' brings together different generations and musical styles. It blends The Queen of Bass's Drum & Bass sound with the warm, distinctive voice of Ruts & La Isla Music. Ruts, also from Tenerife, has nearly twenty years of experience and is a key figure in making reggae a professional genre in the Canary Islands.
Ruts & La Isla Music is a composer, singer, producer, and music activist. She has performed at major international festivals like Rototom Sunsplash, WOMAD, and Boreal. She's also shared stages with famous artists such as UB40, Rosalía, Gentleman, and Morodo. Her unique sound, which mixes reggae and neo-soul with a Latin twist, makes her one of the most distinctive voices in the independent music scene of the Canary Islands.
Ioné de la Cruz, a composer, producer, and multi-instrumentalist, also worked on the track, handling the mixing and mastering. His contribution adds depth, balance, and fine details, giving the song a modern and international feel.
The final song has a global, cutting-edge sound. It highlights the link between new female artists from the Canary Islands and the pioneers of the local reggae scene. With a positive message and a genre-bending production, it truly stands out.
Ruts & La Isla Music, who directs the Reggae Can Festival and performs on the track, commented, "This song represents what the festival is all about: bringing together different generations, styles, and musical ideas from the Canary Islands to the rest of the world."
The song "Reggae Can Festival" is now available on all streaming platforms. It's part of the promotional campaign for the 11th Reggae Can Festival, which will happen on November 7 and 8, 2025, in Punta del Hidalgo, La Laguna, Tenerife.
The festival is sponsored by Islas Canarias and Latitud de Vida. It also receives support from the Government of the Canary Islands, the Canarian Institute for Cultural Development (ICDC), and the La Laguna City Council, specifically through its Department of Festivals and the Autonomous Organization of Musical Activities (OAAM).
Thanks to the support from the La Laguna City Council, the festival is starting its next decade in Punta del Hidalgo, which is seen as the birthplace of reggae in the Canary Islands. This move further strengthens the genre's presence in the area.
