Reggae Can Festival Shifts to Intimate Venue for 12th Edition
The 12th Reggae Can Festival will transition to a smaller, enclosed venue in Punta del Hidalgo on August 7 and 8, prioritizing environmental sustainability and an intimate experience while featuring a lineup of international and local artists.
The 12th Reggae Can Festival is set to mark a major turning point in its history. Taking place on August 7 and 8 in Punta del Hidalgo, La Laguna, the event will move to a smaller, enclosed venue with a limited capacity. This change is designed to improve safety and create a more intimate experience for attendees, moving away from the overcrowding often seen at large outdoor festivals.
Guided by the theme "Caring for the Nest," the festival is focusing on more than just music. The organizers are prioritizing environmental sustainability and supporting local artists. The event will feature a mix of concerts, workshops, food, and social spaces, all supported by the Government of the Canary Islands, the Island Council of Tenerife, and the La Laguna City Council.
This year’s lineup highlights both international stars and local talent. Headliners include British artist General Levy, French-Cape Verdean singer Mo’Kalamity, and the Spanish band Green Valley. Staying true to its roots, the festival will also showcase regional performers like Dactah Chando, Isa Izquierdo, and Summer, with additional music provided by DJs Javadub, Warrior E, and Unruly Youth.
By moving to a more contained space, the Reggae Can Festival aims to set a new standard for how small and medium-sized events are managed in the Canary Islands. The goal is to balance economic success with social and environmental responsibility, ensuring the festival remains sustainable while protecting the fragile coastal landscape.
