Reggae Can Festival Returns to La Laguna with New Official Theme Song

The twelfth Reggae Can Festival returns to La Laguna this weekend, marking a new milestone in its brand identity with the release of its official theme song, Celebrating Dubwise. Composed by Tenerife-based producer Narfyah, the track is now available on all major digital streaming platforms.

This release is a direct result of the Reggae Can Lab, an artistic incubator designed to help professionalize the local music scene. The initiative encourages collaboration between creators and technicians, turning a recent artistic residency into the festival’s signature sound. During production, Narfyah worked with Daniel Lampérez, who provided the mixing and keyboard arrangements to add depth to the track.

Narfyah’s work, following his previous project Islander, highlights a growing trend in the Canary Islands: blending reggae and dub with local folk traditions. By combining brass-band elements with classic dub rhythms, the song reflects the festival’s commitment to promoting regional talent on an international stage.

This year’s festival, themed Cuidando el Nido (Caring for the Nest), kicks off this Thursday with the Reggae Can Dub Party in Bajamar. The event will focus on sound system culture and feature performances by Rootikal Bass, Lasai, and Sister Souto, concluding with the official presentation of the festival’s new soundtrack.

The main events will take place on Friday and Saturday at the Punta del Hidalgo Football Field. Admission is free until the venue reaches capacity. The lineup features major genre names, including Green Valley, General Levy, Mo’Kalamity, and Dactah Chando. Beyond the music, the festival promotes social and environmental causes through programs like No Woman, No Cry and Rompen las Olas, focusing on sustainability, gender equality, and accessibility to ensure a positive impact on the local community.
