In La Laguna, 20 people were fined for throwing things in the street.

In La Laguna, the city authorities fined 20 residents for throwing items directly onto the street without prior notification, which is prohibited by local regulations.

Local police caught several people in the act. Such violations carry significant fines, ranging from 1,500 to 3,000 euros.

City Council representative Fran Hernández reminded residents that the city offers a free waste removal service and urged people to use it.

"We are trying to make it easy for people to get rid of old items. We have a free phone number and other ways to contact us. There is no need to throw everything on the street! It is important to use our services or take items to special recycling points. This is necessary to keep our neighborhoods clean, safe, and beautiful," he noted.

Another City Council representative, Badel Albelo, warned that the authorities would strictly monitor compliance with the rules. "We will not be lenient with those who violate them. The police will continue to fine those who throw items on the street. This harms all residents of the city. We are working with municipal services to make our city cleaner and safer."

According to the City Council, 1,060 tons of waste have already been removed by the end of August, which is 4.2% more than last year. Most often, furniture, large household appliances, plumbing, and doors are discarded. Less common are engines or paint barrels, which heavily pollute the environment.

The City Council also reminded that people usually throw away more waste at the beginning of the school year. Therefore, it is important to use the available waste disposal methods.
