Reforestación Keroxen Event at Bajamar Sound Enclosure This Sunday Features Experimental Acts
This Sunday, the Bajamar Sound Enclosure hosts Reforestación Keroxen, an event featuring experimental sound artists Gonçalo F. Cardoso, Babau, and Salétile, with attendance by invitation only.
This Sunday, the Bajamar Sound Enclosure is hosting another Reforestación Keroxen event. It's a day dedicated to sound creation, active listening, and connecting with the landscape. Things kick off at 4:00 PM with three acts known for pushing musical boundaries.
Space is limited, so attendance is by invitation only. If you'd like to go, please email keroxenbajamar@gmail.com to request an invitation. You'll receive all the necessary details on how to get in.
The music starts with Gonçalo F. Cardoso, performing under his own name for a rare occasion. Usually known for his various aliases and side projects, Cardoso will present a quiet, introspective live set. He builds his sound using subtle noise and field recordings, creating a sense of imaginary island landscapes. His work is inspired by his album trilogy, "Impressões de Varias Ilhas," where listening itself becomes a kind of territory.
At 5:00 PM, it's the turn of Babau, an Italian duo featuring Matteo Pennesi and Luigi Monteanni. They are connected to the Artetetra label and the experimental world of Discrepant. Babau's music mixes improvisation, lo-fi electronics, deconstructed world music samples, and complex rhythms, resulting in a lively, ever-changing soundscape.
The day will wrap up at 6:00 PM with Salétile. This is one of the most distinctive acts from the Canary Islands, led by Daniel Báez and Ruymán García. Their music blends psychedelia, pop, electronics, and rock. The band from the Canary Islands is known for its intricate compositions, sense of humor, noisy elements, and unique approach to sound. They are an underground group that continues to develop its own unmistakable style.
Reforestación Keroxen offers a space where community, place, and artistic exploration come together to create new ways of listening and interacting with our surroundings. The Keroxen festival runs until November 28th and is supported by several organisations, including the Cabildo de Tenerife, the Autonomous Body of Culture of the Santa Cruz de Tenerife City Council, and the Government of the Canary Islands.
Additional support comes from the Swiss Arts Council Pro Helvetia, the National Institute of Performing Arts and Music of the Government of Spain, Santa Cruz + Sostenible, the Higher Conservatory of Music of the Canary Islands, Fuentealta, CreaSGR, AFES Mental Health, and the El Tanque Cultural Space in Tenerife, which hosts most of the festival's events.
