Ramón Gener returns to the Auditorio de Tenerife this Monday at 7:30 PM to offer an accessible talk on Richard Wagner's The Flying Dutchman, ahead of the opera's full staging and marking the venue's first fully staged Wagner production.

Ramón Gener returns to the Auditorio de Tenerife this Monday at 7:30 PM to discuss Richard Wagner's opera, The Flying Dutchman (Der fliegende Holländer). This opera is the second production in Ópera de Tenerife's subscription season. Gener, known for making music accessible, will reveal insights into the opera, which will be fully staged on November 16, 19, and 22. Tickets for Gener's talk are available for eight euros.

Gener will explore the opera's plot, emotions, characters, music, and themes. He'll present these in an engaging and easy-to-understand way, using modern comparisons and playing piano excerpts to illustrate his points. This event is a great chance for anyone wanting to learn more about The Flying Dutchman before the performances, and even for those new to opera who want to understand the details before seeing a production.

This production marks the first time the Auditorio de Tenerife will fully stage a Wagner opera. After presenting concert versions of Tannhäuser and Parsifal, Ópera de Tenerife continues its journey through Wagner's works with Der fliegende Holländer. This early opera shows Wagner beginning to experiment with leitmotifs, which are recurring musical themes. The story unfolds not just through words, but largely through the music itself, which develops the narrative and adds a psychological depth to the storytelling.

Tickets for the lecture can be bought online at www.auditoriodetenerife.com, at the box office, or by calling 902 317 327. Discounts are available for certain groups.
