The Hotel Parque San Antonio in Puerto de la Cruz will reopen on December 15th as the Radisson Resort & Residences Tenerife, marking Radisson's debut in Tenerife after a complete renovation focused on sustainability, accessibility, and modern design.

The Hotel Parque San Antonio, a well-known landmark near Taoro Park in Puerto de la Cruz, is getting a fresh start in December. It's joining the international Radisson brand, marking Radisson's debut in Tenerife.

After a complete makeover, the hotel will be called Radisson Resort & Residences Tenerife and will open on December 15th. This will make it the third five-star hotel in the area, joining the Hotel Botánico & Oriental Spa Garden and the Gran Hotel Taoro.

The renovation project started in May after getting the go-ahead from the Puerto de la Cruz City Council. Since then, the hotel has been completely transformed to meet high standards for sustainability, energy efficiency, and modern design.

Owned by Tenerife Assets Company, a company with strong local ties in the Canary Islands, the hotel will be managed by Canarian Hospitality, experts in running top-notch accommodations in the region. The goal is to attract international high-end tourists while preserving the town's unique character.

While the hotel has a 57-year history, the renovation has respected the building's original Canarian style. The updated hotel will keep features like the pitched roofs but will incorporate a more modern design to match its new status. According to David Hernández, the city's Councilor for Sustainable City, the renovation has also "enhanced natural light and highlighted its gardens and trees, now designed as climate shelters within the complex."

To improve sustainability, three old wastewater wells have been removed, and the plumbing system has been completely updated to connect to the municipal system. This will ensure more efficient water management and create a more sustainable hotel.

The renovation also focused on accessibility and the well-being of the cleaning staff. Hernández explained that "hydraulic systems have been installed in the beds in the rooms to make the work of the cleaning staff easier." Ramps have also been added in all common areas to replace stairs that used to make it difficult to get around. Previously, guests had to climb stairs to reach areas like the dining room and reception.

The renovation will not only give the hotel a new look but will also increase the number of rooms. The hotel used to have 50 rooms, but after the renovation, it will have 240 larger rooms, allowing it to be classified as a five-star hotel.

According to José Daniel Acosta, president and director of Acosta Matos, the company in charge of the renovation, the hotel's features made it possible to apply for the five-star rating. He explained that "the layout, services, spaces, rooms, and their size meant that we could move up in category."
