Racba Hosts Free Concert Featuring Rare 19th-Century Canary Islands Music
The Royal Canarian Academy of Fine Arts will host a free concert this Saturday featuring the Insular Band of the Tenerife Federation of Bands, including the re-premiere of a 19th-century piece and a new composition, as part of Racba's 175th-anniversary celebrations.
This Saturday, the Royal Canarian Academy of Fine Arts of San Miguel Arcángel (Racba) is hosting a concert by the Insular Band of the Tenerife Federation of Bands.
The program features the re-premiere of "Cantos canarios," a piece from 1869 by Francisco Martín Rodríguez. This will be the first time it's performed in over a century.
The concert starts at 7:30 PM at the Paraninfo of the University of La Laguna. Entry is free, but space is limited.
This event, supported by the Cabildo de Tenerife, the Paraninfo of the ULL, the CajaCanarias Foundation, and the Tenerife Federation of Bands, is part of Racba's 175th-anniversary celebrations.
It's a chance to delve into the musical heritage of the Canary Islands, with pieces by Francisco González Afonso and Agustín Ramos also being performed alongside Martín Rodríguez's work. Additionally, there will be the first performance of a new piece written specifically for this occasion by Juan Carlos Martín. José Manuel Encinoso Fernández will lead the band.
