Quirino Awards Open Submissions for 10th Anniversary Edition in Tenerife
The tenth annual Quirino Awards have opened submissions for Ibero-American animation projects, with the ceremony scheduled for April 23, 2027, in Santa Cruz de Tenerife.
The Ibero-American animation industry has reached a major milestone with the launch of the tenth annual Quirino Awards. As the leading event for Spanish and Portuguese-speaking animation, the awards ceremony will take place on April 23, 2027, in Santa Cruz de Tenerife.
Creators from the 23 Ibero-American countries can now submit their work via the Festhome portal. Eligible projects must have been released between June 1, 2025, and December 31, 2026. The deadline for submissions is November 25 at 11:59 PM (GMT-6).
The competition features seven categories: feature films, series, short films, academic works, music videos, commissioned advertising, and video game animation. To ensure higher technical standards, organizers have introduced a dedicated committee of experts to screen video game entries. Additionally, all other categories will be automatically evaluated for excellence in visual development, animation design, and sound and music, highlighting the festival's focus on the technical craft behind storytelling.
Beyond celebrating talent, the Quirino Awards serve as a key indicator of the industry's health in a region where international co-production is vital for success. By hosting these awards, Tenerife continues to solidify its role as a strategic hub for the industry, helping creators connect and gain visibility for projects that might otherwise struggle to reach global audiences.
