A new large-scale mural in Tenerife featuring Canarian artist Quevedo has transformed an abandoned hotel into a cultural landmark, highlighting the intersection of modern pop music and urban revitalization.

Quevedo’s rise to global stardom is defined by more than just streaming numbers and sold-out shows; he has become a true cultural icon in his home country. Recently, the Gran Canarian artist’s influence moved beyond music and into the physical landscape, thanks to a large-scale mural in Tenerife.

The mural covers the exterior of the abandoned Hotel Neptuno in the town of Bajamar. Created by urban artist Beto, who shared the process on social media to great acclaim, the artwork celebrates the aesthetic of Quevedo’s latest album. The design features the musician alongside the animal that inspired his album title, all set against a color palette inspired by the Canary Islands' flag. It also incorporates local symbols, including the eight stars and the traditional pre-Hispanic pintadera.

Projects like this often spark conversations about urban decay and how we manage heritage. While street art is increasingly used to revitalize public spaces, the Bajamar mural shows how modern pop culture can transform forgotten ruins into landmarks for a new generation. The viral success of the project highlights how the blend of urban music and street art has become a powerful way to express regional identity in our hyperconnected world.
