Queen Sofía will attend a benefit concert in Santa Cruz de Tenerife this Friday to raise funds for the Spanish Federation of Food Banks as they address rising food insecurity across the Canary Islands.

The Spanish Federation of Food Banks (Fesbal) will take center stage this Friday in Santa Cruz de Tenerife with a benefit concert. Attended by Queen Sofía, the event aims to raise vital funds for food bank branches across the Canary Islands, where rising grocery costs and inflation have put significant pressure on aid networks.

The concert will be held at the CajaCanarias Cultural Space and features performances by Domingo el Colorao, Fabiola Socas, and Juan Carlos Pérez Brito. Beyond the music, the event highlights Fesbal’s ongoing mission to manage food surpluses—a practice that has been central to the fight against poverty and waste in Spain since the organization’s founding in 1995.

The program will include remarks from Hernán Cerón and Pedro Miguel Llorca, who lead the food bank associations in Tenerife and Las Palmas, as well as Humberto Orán Cury, president of the CajaCanarias Foundation. Organizers ask that guests arrive on time, as doors will close at 6:45 p.m., fifteen minutes before the show begins.

For those who cannot attend, donations can be made via "Row 0" at bank account ES48-2100-1766-4302-0027-2506. Tickets are also available through the CajaCanarias website, with all proceeds supporting the federation’s work. This initiative highlights the importance of public-private partnerships in supporting a non-denominational, apolitical network that remains essential to the islands' social welfare.
